Project Challenge
Because the work was located close to residential buildings that needed to remain in place, the project required a carefully planned execution strategy to prevent impacts to surrounding structures.
Solution
Staging was constructed between the building to be retained and the structure scheduled for demolition. Demolition was safely executed using high-reach excavators and precision small equipment.

Multiple areas within the Museum that needed to be abated while still being open to the general public.
Solution
This required a “rolling containment” schedule so one area at a time could be cordoned off, making it a safe for the general public and giving our crews the opportunity to perform their work. This was achieved with a host of different scenarios including overnight work, closing off sections completely in order to keep everyone safe.

The project involved an 1887 riveted tank positioned between two adjacent tanks.
Solution
We developed a work plan that prevented additional damage to either tank. An access opening was created at the base, allowing a skid steer to enter the tank.

This tank was part of a sewage treatment plant and used to collect "grit and screenings".
Solution
After collaborating with the tank manufacturer and conducting our own structural engineering analysis, we carefully removed the roof and the top 16-feet of the shell. This modification enhanced accessibility for the removal of grit and screenings.

Removal of a tall 750,000-gallon elevated tank in a residential neighborhood with lead-contaminated soils.
Solution
A crane lift with a man basket was used to assist with roof and tank wall removal. Sections were lowered into the tank, then lifted to the ground for cutting and disposal.

Project Challenge
Demolish two mills, including one with salvageable timber, while completing required environmental clean-up before demolition. More than 200,000 board feet of timber was salvaged in total.
Solution
Abatement and removal of all hazardous materials was conducted first to optimize the recovery of salvageable resources. The demolition of mills prioritized the recovery process, while minimizing non-salvageable waste.

Main sections of the former Worcester State Hospital were damaged and collapsed. One of the biggest challenges was to deconstruct the clock tower and re-locate to the new Worcester Recovery Center & Hospital.
Solution
Following a survey with our Environmental Team, the entire building was classified as hot material, and a precise asbestos loadout plan was developed.
